shake it up

As musicians we need to work together, but we also have to compete for crowd share. Let's face it, if you don't get people into the venue to see your act, you won't earn money and it is unlikely the venue will put you high on their call back list. One way to separate yourself is to play an alternative musical instrument from time to time. For me, I save a few piano chops for the right venue. I don't even own a piano, but I know how to play and it is fun to bust a move on the ivory keys once in a while. I've heard of some bands having painters and dancers on stage, or incorporating poetry readings into their act. Think outside the norm, and try something new. If you read this I'd like to know what talents you have hidden up your sleve that you use or may use in the future. . . (examples: harmonica, double joint freak show, comedy, painting, juggling, etc.).

In the words of Young MC "Bust a move!":

i can tap dance! :)

there's a band called "tilly and the wall" that has a rhythmic tap dancer instead of a drummer. it's pretty much amazing.
