Syndicate My Digital Imprint Please

On Tuesday, I was excited when MySpace announced it's participation in a coalition that will allow me to use the same account and password across the web.

I'm curious to watch the evolution of the OpenID coalition which includes AOL, Blogger, WordPress, and other services. Essentially, I'll be able to syndicate my digital imprint across the web. That way I won't have to update my profile information on 10 different sites!

On the other hand, I participate in the online community as essentially three different personalities:
1. Professional marketer
2. Musician
3. And just plain old, JD, that my friends and family know so well

In some ways, I've been trying keep those different lives from mixing.

But lately, I think I've been shedding much of the traditional "Tie on Monday - Friday and blue jeans on the weekend" mode of operation. Perhaps this OpenID evolution will contribute to a new and refreshing transparency trend in business? Maybe we'll get so sick of juggling our on-the-clock and off-the-clock personas that we'll just let the walls between those two worlds come crashing down!

I guess in some ways, this blog has been serving as my bridge between my casual online presence on sites like MySpace and my "professional" presence on sites such as LinkedIn.

Who knows, maybe someday on LinkeIn you will be able to read my resume, download my songs, read my latest road rage recipe, comment on my crazy marketing idea, and tag a picture of me and you at a marketing conference, and then outlook me for a coffee meeting! AND I WON'T HAVE TO SCAN 100 DIFFERENT SOCIAL MEDIA SITES TO GET YOUR MESSAGE!!
It is truly an interactive marketing world we live in, isn't it? Well not for many people in third world countries though.

Gosh, earlier this year I blogged about that new tribe they found deep in the Amazon jungle. Those people had never been exposed to modern technology. How the heck are those people dealing with this modern world??? Do you want to know what a time warp feels like? Just ask the people in the photo above.
